Alpha v0.4: stations and stability!

The main focus for this update was polishing, but we still managed to add a new gameplay feature:

  • Stations!
  • Card shop changes
  • Art and code polish

Stations

We have new nodes on the dungeon map called stations! Once per dungeon you can visit each station to remove up to 2 cards from your deck to gain some resources: health, energy or shop rerolls. Be careful not to use all of them at the beginning of the dungeon or your deck can become too thin and unbalanced (connection-wise).

Card shop changes

There are multiple changes about the shop:

  1. You can no longer reroll using energy but have fixed chances of reroll.
  2. If you reroll or buy a new card it's no longer possible to gain cards that already were in the shop.
  3. There are no longer cards in the shop that don't add to your deck (so, no healing or card removal, only stations can do it).

About the 1st one: we noticed that some players rerolled too much to gain cards or effects needed at the end of a dungeon and didn't use hard earned energy to experiment with new cards. Now, all you can spend energy on is new cards.

Art and code polish

The biggest differences are how cards are handled in battle and new backgrounds. We changed size of slots (no visible changes, only in code) and cards should feel more responsive in general. Also, new backgrounds, while not animated, look cooler than the old one. The game also auto-maximizes itself on start, it should help players with lower-resolution devices.
There are also some minor changes in art and small bugfixes here and there.

Plans

We are now working hard to bring our game to Steam and create more media presence (Discord server would be nice, for example), so we will probably post more often in the near future :)

The new backgrounds look good and the double-click problem I talked about before seems to be fixed!  I like the station spaces, too, but you should really be able to leave them without using them.  I thought I was trapped in one because there's no obvious way to exit the GUI, and only discovered by accident that if you trade no cards, you can leave, but the station disappears.

Nice, I was wondering about the double-click problem you talked about before and it's nice that it actually got fixed :)
We will do something about stations, your suggestion seems obvious now, but we somehow didn't think about it.
